Product Description

Undersea Chief mask signed, carved, and painted by John Livingston on old growth cedar 18"x13"x8".

Adopted kwakwaka’wakw in 1965 through a close association with members of the Henry and Helen Hunt family, John began a lifelong interest in Northwest Coast native art and culture in the traditional Kwagiulth style.

He was taught by Vancouver Island master carvers Henry Hunt and his son Tony Hunt, Jr. when they took over from the late Mungo Martin as head carvers of the Thunderbird Park carving program at the BC Provincial Museum in Victoria.

John Livingston is now considered a world class carver.

He is part of the Kwakwakw (Kwakiutl) First Nations.

He is regarded as a Master Carver and is seen as one of the finest carvers on Vancouver Island today.

His masks bring very big dollars from collectors
